The OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreational) Subsidy is a non-taxable payment that aims to assist low income caregivers to enter and remain in employment. It can also be used for families where the principal caregiver, or the child or children of the principal caregiver are experiencing, serious ill health or disability.
So that you can get a subsidy from the day your child starts the programme, you need to apply before your child’s first day. This is especially important for school holidays.
Where we advertise fees as being "with the full WINZ subsidy" this refers to receiving the top hourly rate and for the total hours enrolled. The rate and hours of the subsidy is not determined by MASH.
